... a marvellous freedom from the tumult of the world" (St Aelred of Rievaulx): monastic worship in a medieval monastery

Join us for an engaging evening with the Helmsley Archaeological & Historical Society as we delve into what on earth did Cistercian monks do – and why? How liturgical practice influenced the architecture and running of the monastery and how Cistercian reform played out in the monasteries using Rievaulx Abbey as a case study.
